- Saturday 4th August to Sunday 5th August 2018
Day 1 – Saturday – Easedale Round
A walk of outstanding beauty within the heart of the Lake District. You will experience everything from high and remote mountainous terrain to secluded lakes and waterfalls. One of the finest and most rewarding walks in the Lake District.
Starting in Grasmere you will set off with your guide and group towards Easedale Tarn which lies hidden, high in the fells, surrounded by towering crags. This is a place of outstanding natural beauty. From the Easedale Tarn we take a rocky path to our first summit, Blea Rigg, and enjoy the views over the Langdale Pikes and down to Stickle Tarn. From here we start the ascent to Sergeant Man and finally High Raise, the highest summit of the day, a great place for a rewarding rest and enjoy the stunning views. Our route back is interesting and pleasant via Greenup Edge down through Far Easedale. If the group is feeling fit we have options to squeeze in a couple of additional peaks.
Day 2 – Sunday – Discovering Elterwater and Loughrigg.
A lower-level walk filled with surprise views, hidden gems and varied terrain. Expereince some of the most picturesque areas of the Lake District and tick off a couple more summits in the process.
Starting in Grasmere we head straight for the first summit, Silver Howe, over undulating moorland with fine views over Grasmere. Dropping down towards Chapel Stile in Great Langdale we join the Cumbria Way running alongside Great Langdale Beck to Elterwater (and Elter Water). This is one of most visited places in the Lake District and you will soon see why. The route continues to Skelwith Bridge where we leave the Cumbria Way and head for the beautiful area of Little Loughrigg and Loughrigg Tarn. A great place to stop and enjoy the surroundings especially across to the Langdale Pikes. From here we start climbing again, up to the small summit of Loughrigg Fell, one of the best view points in Lakeland. Loughrigg Terrace leads us down to Rydal Water and then back along the shoreline of Grasmere back to the village.
A day absolutely packed with just about everything Lakeland has to offer.
